The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board designed to be compatible with the ATmega328 microcontroller. The Uno model is different from previous microcontrollers because it does not use the USB to serial FTDI driver chip. Instead, it includes the Atmega8U2 programmed as a USB to serial converter. Two versions are available that differ in MCU package type: DIP or SMD.

The Rev3 part has some minor contact changes. To get started, simply connect the board to a computer with a USB cable or power it with an ac to dc adapter or battery. Microcontroller boards can also easily communicate with another Arduino board or microcontroller.
